Subpath Hosting

Host your blog at a subpath like yoursite.com/blog to keep your content on your main domain. This creates a seamless experience for visitors and strengthens your domain authority.

Subpath hosting requires configuring your infrastructure to proxy requests to Waldium. The setup varies depending on your hosting provider.

Why Host on a Subpath?

Hosting your blog on a subpath rather than a subdomain offers several advantages:

SEO benefits:

  • All content contributes to your main domain's authority
  • No split link equity between domains
  • Better crawlability and indexing

User experience:

  • Visitors stay on your primary domain
  • Consistent navigation and branding
  • No confusion between subdomains

Brand consistency:

  • Single domain for all content
  • Professional appearance
  • Unified analytics tracking

Setup by Hosting Provider

The configuration process varies depending on where your main site is hosted. Choose your provider and follow the setup instructions.

How Subpath Hosting Works

When you configure subpath hosting, your infrastructure acts as a reverse proxy:

  1. User visits yoursite.com/blog
  2. Your proxy intercepts the request
  3. Request is forwarded to your-subdomain.waldium.app/blog
  4. Waldium responds with your blog content
  5. User sees yoursite.com/blog in their browser

The URL never changes from the user's perspective—they always see your domain.

Prerequisites

Before setting up subpath hosting, ensure you have:

  • A Waldium site with content ready to publish
  • Access to your hosting provider or DNS management
  • Your Waldium subdomain (found in your dashboard URL)

Your Waldium subdomain appears at the end of your dashboard URL: app.waldium.com/your-org/your-subdomain. The subdomain would be your-subdomain.

Security Considerations

When proxying traffic through your infrastructure, you may need to configure security headers. If your proxy enforces strict Content Security Policy (CSP), see our CSP configuration guide to ensure Waldium resources load correctly.
